What is a nakshatra?
The Vedic sky is divided into 27 nakshatras — lunar mansions the Moon passes through, each about 13°20′ wide. The nakshatra the Moon occupied at your birth is your janma nakshatra, or birth star. It is the most personal point in your chart: it colours your instincts, your emotional wiring and the natural timing of your life through the Vimshottari dasha system, which is built entirely on your birth nakshatra.

How do I find my nakshatra by date of birth?
